    Workshop Overview

A workshop on the preliminary work on the springs of Kumauan Lesser Himalayan (KLH) region was conducted between 21 and 22 January 2020. This workshop was followed by a field trip to the area on 23 and 24 January 2020.
Springs are invisible resources and provide livelihood to the local population. Comprehensive analysis of social and cultural aspects involved with the managing of springs needs to be carried out. Almost all the springs are part of the daily prayer by the local people. Near the mouth of the springs the villagers have installed their favourite God’s idol. This symbolises the importance the villagers attach to the springs. Any management of springs including rejuvenation program must be based on extensive consultation with the village community.
